Candle Care & Safety
Want your candle to burn bright and last long? Show it a little love with these simple tips.
The First Burn = The Most Important Burn
Candles have a memory (yes, really). The first time you light yours, let it burn until the entire top layer melts to the edges. This helps prevent tunneling and keeps your candle burning evenly every time.
Trim That Wick!
Before each burn, trim your wick to 5mm. A shorter wick means less smoke, a cleaner burn, and a longer-lasting candle. Plus, no one likes that sooty black rim on their candle jar—keep it neat!
Burn Smart, Not Forever
We know it’s tempting, but don’t burn your candle for more than 4 hours at a time. Too long, and the wax can overheat, affecting how well your candle performs in the future.
Drafts Are Not Your Friend
Burn your candle in a draft-free area. A breeze can cause uneven burning, make your flame flicker wildly, and shorten your candle’s life.
Snuff, Don’t Huff
Blowing out your candle can send smoke everywhere, ruining that dreamy scent you just created. Instead, use a wick dipper or snuffer to gently extinguish the flame without the smoky after-effect.
Know When to Say Goodbye
When there’s about 1cm of wax left, it’s time to retire your candle. Burning it lower can overheat the jar—safety first! But don’t worry, you can reuse the jar for storage, plants, or makeup brushes.
Storage Tips
Keep your candle out of direct sunlight to prevent discoloration and wax damage. If you ever notice soot buildup on the jar, just wipe it away with a damp cloth and remember to keep that wick trimmed!
Follow these steps, and your SOPO candle will burn beautifully, smell incredible, and last longer. Now, light it up and enjoy the glow!
